Perhaps when it fails me but even then, considering the club's fantastic properties, I'd have to admit it being more the player than the club.Īll in all, I highly recommend giving this one a go. But truth be told, I'm so darn impressed with the Limited that I see no reason at all to switch.
List of taylormade drivers from r7 to m family driver#
The driver with it's current set-up is the smoothest and most powerful that I've hit to date.įrom what I've heard, the R9 is even a step-up from the Limited. I have an extra Graphite Design PM 702 laying around which I'd intended to drop into this clubhead but I've since scrapped those plans.

I find it to load beautifully with a very powerful release through impact. The driver also features a new 60-gram graphite shaft called the Matrix XCon 5. The stock x-flex Whiteboard is more like a sturdy stiff, in my opinion. TaylorMade is releasing a new version of their popular adjustable r7 driver called the r7 Limited which retains the Movable Weight Technology in prior r7s and sees a change of 35 yards over the previous models trajectory of 28 yards. Slight loss of distance but direction is barely affected. The R7 Limited is superb in it's forgiveness of contact toward the toe. I have a natural tendency to miss toward the toe and will therefore gravitate to clubs that a more forgiving of this fault. It sets up perfectly square behind the ball (I cannot play drivers with a closed face-angle) and I now find it quite appealing. Where I'd thought it would take time to adjust to the clubhead's triangular shape, that's just not the case for me. Perhaps 10 or so yards consistently longer than my current driver. I'm not trying to claim Herculean distance gains here, but the increase is surely noticeable. Incredibly solid and forgiving with a terrific launch angle and and great distance. This driver has been nothing short of sensational for me. Although the shaft didn't suit me, I was very impressed by the super-solid feel at impact. Certainly, not one that could surpass the performance of my tried and true 425 TP.Ī friend of mine had an R7 Limited and I tried it. I'd tried so many of the latest and greatest drivers on the market but like I said, I just couldn't find one that seemed special. My driver of choice for a long time and one to which I compare all others is a Taylor Made R7 425 TP with a stiff Graphite Design PM 702 shaft, 44.5". Matter of fact, I could never even get comfortable with the largest 460cc drivers. Instead, I've always preferred the more traditionally shaped offerings. I'd long resisted even trying any of the strange shaped high MOI drivers on the market. This review is of my 9.5* R7 TP Limited with an x-flex stock Diamana Whiteboard shaft.

Like my drives, my scores can vary greatly. Solid ball-striker with the irons but wayward with the driver. Background: I play to about a 7 handicap and have been as low as a 3.5 within the past couple of years.
